Fear of Inflation and the Economy

With gas prices, college tuition, and food prices steadily increasing our group felt that reading this blog would be relevant to all of us college students. http://economicrot.blogspot.com/
This blog entertains by displaying pictures and cartoons of how the decline in the economy and the rise of inflation is affecting people in the world. It also instills a sense of fear while looking at some of the pictures along with telling the history of the U.S. dollar and how the value of the dollar continues to decrease. The author uses fear of inflation in everyday lives to raise awareness about the economic decline. Therefore, we felt this blog fit the course theme very well, yet it displays creativity for our last blog comments.

Fear of Nuclear Power

The blog that we have selected for this week is www.greennuclearbutterfly.blogspot.com. This blog focuses on the ramifications of nuclear power as it pertains to us in our daily lives. The creators, as you will find, are against nuclear power and the great push for its expansion. We have recently witnessed the effects of a failed nulear power plant in Japan, as well as the well noted disater of Chernobyl. This blog uses people's inherent fears from these disasters to persuade readers that nuclear power should be abandoned in favor of other alternative renewable energy sources. This blog uses fear effectively to convey its message that nuclear power is dangerous and should be reconsidered.

Fear of Resource Depletion

The blog we have chosen is “No Impact Man.” The blog is run by Colin Beaven and focuses largely on making a better and happier environment in which to live in. Despite the good-natured aims, the blog provokes fear concerning depletion of natural resources. It achieves this by stating various events that are foreseen to happen in the future if our current consumption rate is maintained. It also dives into political issues and calls the reader to action. Our group feels that this is an appropriate blog not only because of the fear content, but also because there are many users who have commented on the posts.
